Shop volunteers win The Queen's
Award for Voluntary Service!!

As announced on Wednesday 2nd June, Marchington Shop volunteers have been awarded the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. What an achievement!

The official announcement from Buckingham Palace states that Marchington Community Shop has been selected to receive The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service 2021. This is ‘The MBE for volunteer groups’ and it's congratulations to everyone who has volunteered in any way in an

We are delighted and overwhelmed that our volunteers have won this wonderful award. We could never have believed that our work would be recognised in such an important way. It is a fitting testimony to every single volunteer who has offered their time and enthusiasm to benefit the shop since it opened in November 2010, from the very youngest Duke of Edinburgh volunteers, to people who have learnt for the first time how to use a digital till. Many thanks too to all our many customers who have supported us, contributed and given us suggestions, and sometimes turned into volunteers themselves!

We are told that we will receive a signed certificate from Her Majesty The Queen, which will be presented locally by the Lord Lieutenant for Staffordshire, at an agreed later date. There will also be a crystal award with the QAVS insignia, presented with this certificate, and an invitation for two people to attend a Royal Garden Party in summer 2022.

Congratulations to all our volunteers and supporters!!
